Переглядів 1,4 тис.4 роки тому
I entered this saddle in The Master Saddlers saddle making competition in London. And came second I rushed this saddle and made it in about 3/ 4 days. I Was teaching when I decided to make it . So ended up doing a half hour to an hour when I finished. I then spent one and a half days on it. I think the glue was still wet when I tossed it in the box. As most of you know I don't have time to make...

For how many days you leave nail in table could you tell me thanks
I take it out when the leather is dry. Normally a few hours or a day. Depends I. The weather
Thank you. Once I started watching, I couldn't take my eyes off the screen.
Thanks vey much for your super clear explanation greetings from the Netherlands. Fantastic your explanation to make dog leashes and collars!
Thank you! I've been using this method you shared for a few years. Very effective and lethal when cutting and skiving leather. God bless you for sharing your skills and gifts.
Wow, this video is awesome. Will you kindly say the name of the material you use please.. TP1 is what I heard? I’m from across the pond and my British translator is broken. 😬
Great video. Thanks for teaching this ❤️
What size is a #23 punch? I can't find that size anywhere.
Nice video. How would you calculate the length of the thong. Definitely don't want to be too short
Hmm wonder if this could work on joining beaver tails into a single sheet of leather for a jacket...
thank you for sharing, really clear narration and instruction
Terrific tip! It really works and makes a big difference...thank you!
💕
Thank you, you make a scary looking knife easy to use.
What glue is best for bonding leather for stiffener?
Excellent, thank you
Thanks for showing how challenging it is to get that F'er to work at first.😁
Very helpful video! What do I need to buy to get the angled stitch holes? I’ve ordered so many different pricking irons and punches and can’t seem to get the right one.

So how long is the leash when you cut it out? You keep going off and on camera so I can't see what you are doing.
many thanks for the video, after a gap of 38 years it has brought it all back!
What’s the width of the of the leather strap
It has been awhile since I did that video. I think it is about 3 or 4 mm. You can make it wider or narrower. It is down to the look and strength you are after. If you wanted it for a stronger dog. You should go thicker. I thought no that thickness is about 1.8mm.
Good fun... Reminded me of when we lived at Meall Mohr from 1954 to 1958 on the shores of Loch Fyne near Tarbert. Cheers...Freddie
Really helpful, thank you!
Aye, that wisnae too bad, even if it was a wee bit too short. Getting back into leatherwork after 31 years and looking around for inspirational videos on UA-cam. Let Kieran know what a great way to make living this could be for him being able to produce leather products of any kind. Saddle looked like it would keep the rider really secure, great looking piece. Would love to have seen more of it. This is my 4 minute memories video up until the year 2022: ua-cam.com/video/p_4_fS8f4Kk/v-deo.html Cheers...Freddie
So you split it,down,to about 6oz., yes?
Yes John about 6 or 7 oz
Great video, 2023 here. Hope you are still keeping on...Regards.
Still doing good. Thanks
Sorry if I missed him saying it, but how much length of lace do you need? Like, if it's a 20 inch length, do you need 40 inches of lace since it's folded in half? Or would it be closer to 50 inches to be safe with the extra length on the parts curving around the sides?
How would you do multiple stitches on each end for a lead?
You're the best
That is not a very good way to sharpen a knife. Never use a circular motion you always pull the blade never push the cutting edge into the stone
I’m sure you think you’re correct. I’m a professional saddle maker the knife in the video is over 30 years old. And when I use it. It is as sharp as a razor. I have 10 saddle makers at a factory I advise. They sharpen their round knives in the same way. Most of these guys have been making saddles for 30 years.
Good Day. I live in NJ, USA. I found your channel yesterday. You do beautiful work, very talented. You make it look so easy and you seem to be an awesome teacher. Thank you for showing how to do these things. My daughter came home from a dog show with a picture of a leather show lead and she asked me if I could make one. I looked at the pic and said "sure". I've been tying paracord for years, and it looked fairly simple. BUT THEN... I started to realize that leather is a whole different animal (pun intended) . The lead that she wants me to make is 2 different colors, about 3' long, (you do use feet as measurements?) and looks like it's made of leather strips with a fishtail braid. Do you have any videos on how to do this as 2 colors? I cant seem to find one on all of youtube. I have no idea how to or if leather can be joined together or does it get woven together? Any info you could send would be wonderful. Thanks again.

I’m trying to close stitching line holes on my leather missal cover. I had a plastic pocket for a holy card. I removed the pocket and would like to make the remaining holes disappear. Suggestions?
This will make a lovely handbag handle. Thank you for the video tutorial.
It was bugging me that you wouldn't stand up your maul to keep it from rolling away.
Very nice video, really appreciate the instruction 👍
Cool, Thanx
Great video thanks
So informative - thanks for sharing. I'm looking for ideas on how best to remove initials debossed into a grained-leather journal cover that I purchased second-hand.
Same reason I ended up here. Did you try this? Did it work?
GREAT video! Thank you for the clear, concise instruction!
Did you ever get your new motorbike?
